Blackhall Lawn Tennis Club Rules
Times of Play Junior Members Junior Members have priority on weekdays between 4pm and 6pm and on Saturday mornings between 10am and 12noon. Seniors can only play at these times if no Juniors are waiting to play and a court is obviously free. If Juniors arrive then Seniors must leave the court immediately and let the Juniors play. Adult members wishing to play with their children should try to play outwith these set Junior times at which Junior Rules apply. Senior Members Senior Members have priority on weekdays after 6pm and Saturday and Sunday afternoons between 2pm and 6pm. Juniors can play only at these times if there are no Seniors waiting to play and a court is obviously free. If Seniors arrive then Juniors must leave the court immediately and let the Seniors play. The only exception to this rule is Junior Tournaments. When Courts are Busy When it is busy players should either play a short set (6-5) or a maximum of 30 minutes. They should then let the next four on court. Players are asked to avoid singles games when it is busy and, regardless of standard, invite those waiting to play doubles. Singles should only be played if the courts are quiet or those waiting to play do not want to join up for doubles. Outwith the above times when all courts are busy, the following rules apply–: · One court will be used by Seniors, one by Juniors and the third will alternate between Seniors and Juniors. Please use your common sense should to ensure everyone gets a fair amount of court time. · When League matches are in play (April – June), 1 court (7.00-9.00pm weekdays) is reserved at Ravelston Sports Club (RSC) for use by Blackhall members. These courts can be booked direct with RSC or players turn up to play. If the reserved allocation has been prebooked by other Blackhall players then additional courts can be booked at the preferential rates negotiated on behalf of Blackhall members. Membership Status Shoe Tags It is a condition of Membership that Shoe Tags must be worn or displayed at all times to confirm current membership status. Guests Members may ask the same Guest to play twice a month only. The fee is £2 for Seniors and £1 for Juniors. The names of the Guest and date of play must be entered on the Guest Sheet on the notice board. The fee should be delivered to 6 Craigcrook Road in an envelope provided otherwise the member will be invoiced at the end of the season. Unfortunately guests cannot play at Ravelston Sports Club. Clothing & Footwear Suitable clothing for tennis should be worn – jeans etc are not suitable! Footwear must not damage the courts – suitable predominantly white sports trainers with soft rubber soles should be worn. Clubhouse & Grounds All members must take good care of the Clubhouse and grounds and notify a member of the Committee if they think anything needs attention. Bins should be used and the premises left in good order regardless of how it was found! |
